About Enso Koi

Enso Koi was created in 2014 by Landon Ginn, a technology supervisor in the games and animation industry. The game took shape after he returned to the United States from working in Japan on Fire Emblem Fates—a single "Shower Thought" sparked the full rules and structure, and within a week of ideation he had built the first playable iteration.

After a season prototyping a wooden board-game version, Landon brought Enso Koi to several conventions across North Texas in 2015. He soon made larger life moves, relocating to Los Angeles to work at Nickelodeon, where he ran his first Kickstarter campaign.

The campaign raised substantial funds but fell short of its goal. That moment came at a pivotal turn in his career; he advanced quickly through studios including Walt Disney Animation, with credits on Wish and Moana 2, and now Sony Pictures Animation, where he serves as a technology supervisor. Through it all, the wooden Enso Koi board has been beaten and scratched in countless shows and demos, its rules refined nearly every year as hundreds of people have played in person at work and at conventions—a personal project refined and defined for nearly a decade.

Landon decided it was time to bring the game into the digital world. This site is a first step to raise awareness of Enso Koi and its rules, in preparation for a competitive online platform where others can build a community around the game.
